Barbara Rodgers

The Bronze Report's host, Barbara Rodgers is one of the most recognizable newscasters in the Bay Area.

An award-winning anchor, reporter and show host on CBS 5’s Eyewitness News and Bay Sunday, Barbara brings newsmakers, celebrities, community leaders and residents into the homes of her viewers.  She hosted her own radio show, ‘Live from San Francisco: It’s Barbara Rodgers’ on KKGN in San Francisco, and is also a regular host on the Northern California cable show, Comcast Newsmakers.

Barbara’s awards, honors and accolades are as impressive as they are numerous.  She was honored for her work and community service with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Northern California Radio-Television News Directors Association.  She has seven Emmys, five ‘Excellence in Journalism’ awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, and more awards for reporting from the Associated Press, United Press International, Peninsula Press Club, and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.  NATAS honored her with The Governor’s Award -- the highest local award a journalist can receive.

In 2010, Barbara’s alma mater inducted her into the Knoxville College Hall of Fame.  Her commitment to her craft and her community is unwavering.  She is a member and co-founder of the Bay Area Black Journalists Association, and has served on the boards of various organizations, including the World Affairs Council of Northern California and Friends of Faith.

Barbara loves traveling, is a confessed “foodie,” and loves jazz and classical music.  She recently finished her first novel and looks forward to finding just the right publisher for what she calls, “an urban romance for grownups.”
