"...Everyone knows raisin a classic American play.  Les Blancs deals with colonialism and The Sign on Sidney Brewstein’s Window is a play not many do because there’s only one black character in it, the rest are white and it deals with issues that center around politics. This is a black writer that wrote a white play, that went to Broadway and was successful.  Now, very often, writers of color... are ghettoized in terms of what they are supposed to write about,  she broke that mold immediately.
