Blues for an Alabama Sky at LHT

The Lorraine Hansberry has undergone a renaissance of its own… so it seemed fitting … when host of The Bronze Report Barbara Rodgers  stopped by, Pearle Cleage’s play about the Harlem Renaissance was onstage…  Blues For an Alabama Sky.

Playwright Pearl Cleage

Playwright Pearl Cleage wrote Blues For An Alabama Sky in the 1990s, yet she set it in the 1930’s, and while these actors never lived through that era, they seem to connect with the characters, like the sassy Angel Allen, played by Shinelle Azoroh.

"There's a lot of pride, excitement, and nervousness," says Azoroh.  " Because you want to live up to this is a great thing… just a lot of pride."
