"I’m old enough to accept the responsibility that I’m an African American, a black artist OK, but a lot of my peers… 'I’m no black artist, I’m just an artist'.  You can go to 90% of the galleries in New York and you’ll never see a physical image of an African-American, unless you’re in Harlem.
