There is a tech renaissance going on in Oakland California.

Actor Carl Lumbly talked to The Bronze Report about his life, his career, and offers some good advice about love, during his performance in August Wilson's Fences.

 

The Bronze Report's Jan Mabry went to the set of The Soul Man in Studio City and met the show's 'it' couple, Kim and Stamps -- Kellee Stewart and Wesley Jonathan.

The civil rights movement broke down the barriers for African Americans in the work place.  Now, blacks make up more than  10% of America's workforce.  Not so in the Silicon Valley -- where our numbers are dismal at best.  It's rekindled a high-tech civil rights movement called the Digital Inclusion Initiative.

 

On January 12, 2010, a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the island of Haiti… some 316,000 people died… at least a million people were left homeless.  The shock waves went around the world and the response was unprecedented.  People donated billions of dollars to help. Where did all that money go?

Social psychologist Claude Steele’s groundbreaking research goes to the root of the achievement gaps in American society… whether it’s in the classroom, in the workplace… even on the playing field. He calls it “the stereotype threat.”
