The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre The Bounce Report

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performs their classic piece, Revelations.

Alvin Ailey

The company’s founder Alvin Ailey started out with just a handful of African American dancers at the 92nd street YMCA in Lower Harlem…It was  the beginning of the civil rights era… and Ailey made black dancers part of the cultural revolution.

After 50 years, the company has been recognized as a cultural ambassador.  Truly, this African-American company has become an American institution.
